Praslin & Curieuse Itineraries: 3, 5 and 7 Days

Tortoises, coco de mer forest, perfect beaches and La Digue by bike — paced so you still have time to do nothing.

Curieuse needs one day. Praslin and La Digue deserve several more. These plans assume you arrive on Praslin from Mahé, and they put the Curieuse boat trip early so it can be moved if the weather turns.

3 days on Praslin

  • Day 1 — Arrival: ferry or flight from Mahé, check in at Côte d’Or, swim, and watch the sunset behind St Pierre and Curieuse.
  • Day 2 — Curieuse: a full-day boat trip — St Pierre snorkelling, the tortoises at Baie Laraie, the mangrove walk and a barbecue at Anse José.
  • Day 3 — Coco de mer and Anse Lazio: the Vallée de Mai first thing, then the afternoon at Anse Lazio before your onward ferry or flight (check the last departure time).

5 days: Praslin and La Digue

  • Day 1: arrive on Praslin; settle in at Côte d’Or.
  • Day 2: Curieuse and St Pierre by boat.
  • Day 3: Vallée de Mai in the morning; Anse Lazio in the afternoon.

  • Day 5: early morning at Anse Source d’Argent before the crowds, then the ferry back to Praslin for your onward connection.

Three islands in one day: the seabirds and endemic land birds of Cousin, a protected reserve, then Curieuse for the tortoises and lunch, and a snorkel at St Pierre. • Days 6–7: two nights on La Digue — bikes, Anse Source d’Argent, the east-coast beaches and, for the fit, a guided hike to Anse Marron.

Tips for planning

  • Book Curieuse early in the trip so you have spare days if the sea is rough.
  • Check ferry and flight times for your arrival and departure days; avoid boat trips on those days.
  • Mornings are best for the Vallée de Mai, the tortoises and Anse Source d’Argent.
  • Stay at Côte d’Or for the shortest hop to Curieuse — see where to stay.
  • Leave time to do nothing. The beaches are the point.

Itinerary FAQs

Frequently asked questions

How many days do I need on Praslin?

At least three nights to see Curieuse, the Vallée de Mai and Anse Lazio without rushing; five or more if you add La Digue.

Is one day enough for Curieuse?

Yes. A full-day boat trip covers the tortoises, the walk, the Doctor’s House, lunch and snorkelling.

Should I stay on Praslin or La Digue?

Praslin for Curieuse and the Vallée de Mai; La Digue for its beaches and slow pace. With five nights or more, split your stay.

Can I visit Curieuse on my arrival or departure day?

It is risky: ferry and flight times rarely fit a full-day trip, and bad weather could cancel it. Plan it for a full day in the middle of your stay.
