Curieuse Tours & Boat Trips

Tortoises, mangroves, snorkelling and a beach barbecue — plus the best of Praslin and La Digue, chosen and ready to book.

There is no public ferry to Curieuse, so for nearly everyone a boat trip is the way in. The good news is that the standard day is excellent: boat, ranger-park fee, guide, snorkel gear and a beach barbecue, usually with hotel pickup on Praslin.

Honesty first: GetYourGuide does not list Curieuse as a destination of its own, and the choice is smaller than for big-city tours. The trips below are the genuine Curieuse products on sale — almost all run by small local operators from Praslin — together with the best tours on Praslin and La Digue to fill the rest of your stay. All are live GetYourGuide listings with real reviews; prices are indicative “from” prices in euros.

When to book: the top-rated boats have limited places and sell out in high season and around Christmas, Easter and European school holidays. Most can be cancelled free of charge up to 24 hours ahead, so book as soon as your Praslin dates are fixed — and pick a day early in your stay, so there is room to move it if the sea is rough.

Booking Curieuse tours: FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to book a Curieuse trip in advance?

In high season, school holidays and around Christmas and Easter, yes — the best-reviewed boats fill up. At quieter times a day or two ahead is often enough. Booking early in your stay leaves room to reschedule if the weather is bad.

Is the park entrance fee included?

On most organised trips, yes, but not on all. Each listing states what is included; if it is not, you pay the fee at the ranger station on arrival.

Is hotel pickup included?

Many trips include pickup from hotels on Praslin or meet on the beach at Côte d’Or. Check the meeting point on your listing, especially if you are staying in the south or west of the island.

What happens if the sea is rough?

Operators cancel or postpone if conditions are unsafe. With free cancellation you can usually rebook another day or get a refund — another reason not to leave your trip to the last day.

Can I visit Curieuse from Mahé or La Digue?

Yes: a few catamaran trips include Curieuse from Mahé or La Digue, but they are long and expensive. Staying at least one night on Praslin gives far more choice and a much shorter boat ride.

Are Curieuse trips suitable for children?

Yes. Children love the tortoises, and the walk is short. Choose a half-day trip with young children, bring a life jacket or float for snorkelling, and plenty of sun protection.
